The Town of Aurora's Private Tree Bylaw (Bylaw 6362-21, in effect since 2021) requires a permit for the removal of most healthy trees over 20 cm DBH (diameter at breast height) on private property. There are exceptions for dead, dying, or hazardous trees, and for certain non-native species.
We handle the permit submission as part of the quote. You don't fill any Town forms; you don't pay separate permit fees on top of the quoted price. If a tree qualifies for a "no permit needed" exception, we document that too, so you have a record.

How much does tree removal cost in Aurora?

How long does a tree removal take?
Most single-tree removals take 2-6 hours on-site. Larger trees, complex access, or work requiring crane assistance can take a full day. Stump grinding adds 1-2 hours per stump. Do I need to be home during the removal?
Not necessarily, but we recommend it for the start so we can confirm tree identification, access path, and any property protection needs (lawn boards, mulch staging area). If you cannot be there, we ask for a quick walkthrough by phone or video before the crew starts.
What happens to the wood and debris?
Default is full cleanup and haul-away. Wood is sent to a chipper or a local firewood supplier; brush is chipped on-site or hauled. You can request the wood be kept on-site as firewood rounds (no extra charge) or fully chipped on-site (small chip-dump charge). Specify in the quote conversation.
What if my tree is hazardous and needs to come down fast?
Call us. Hazardous-tree assessments take priority and we can typically get a partner crew out within 24-48 hours. If the tree is actively threatening a structure, vehicle, or power line, treat it as an emergency: call Alectra first (for power lines), then call us. Emergency response pricing reflects after-hours scheduling.
Do you remove the stump too?
Stump grinding is a separate scope. We quote it alongside removal so you have one written estimate covering both. Most homeowners grind to about 4-6 inches below grade, enough for grass to grow back. Deeper grinds are available for landscaping or construction prep.
