About
A locally-operated platform — and honest about what that means
Aurora Tree Removal is not a 40-year family business pretending to be one. We're a vetted-partner model, and the difference matters.
- Free written quotes
- Fully insured + WSIB
- ISA-certified partners
- Aurora bylaw permits handled
The model
What this is, plainly
Aurora Tree Removal is a platform — a single phone number, a single website, a single quote process — that routes Aurora-area homeowners to a small, vetted set of ISA-certified arborist partners. Each job is performed by a partner crew, not by an in-house team. The work, the insurance, and the equipment are theirs. The platform, the bylaw work, the homeowner relationship, and the quality bar are ours.
Why this structure? Because building a single-crew arborist business from scratch would take years, and during those years Aurora homeowners would either get worse quotes from less-organized contractors or higher quotes from out-of-town franchises. The partner model gives homeowners ISA-certified, fully-insured work from day one, while we focus on the things that aren't a crew's strength: permit submission, response time, clear written quotes, and treating the homeowner like an adult.
How we vet partners
Every partner crew on our roster meets these requirements, verified at intake and re-verified every six months:
- ISA arborist certification — at minimum, the crew lead. Certification number recorded and verifiable.
- $2 million general liability insurance — Certificate of Insurance on file, current expiry date.
- Active WSIB clearance — clearance certificate on file, renewed.
- Demonstrated work history — minimum 3 years of operating history in Ontario, verified through references and prior-job documentation.
- Equipment baseline — aerial-lift or qualified climber capability, proper rigging, chipper, stump grinder, hydro-coordination experience.
- Clean enforcement record — no outstanding Ontario Ministry of Labour orders or WSIB compliance actions in the prior 24 months.
If a partner's coverage lapses, certification expires, or there's a safety incident, they're off the roster until reinstated. There are no exceptions to this. If we don't have a qualified partner available for your timeline, we tell you that directly — we don't dispatch an unqualified crew to make a number.
What you can see in writing
Before any work begins, you can request:
- The specific partner crew's ISA certification number.
- Their current Certificate of Insurance.
- Their current WSIB clearance certificate.
- The Aurora bylaw permit (or exemption documentation) for your specific job.
We don't make you ask. These are included in the quote package by default.
About the operator
Aurora Tree Removal is operated by Aroon Maharaj, based in the GTA. Day-to-day operations — quote intake, permit submission, partner coordination, customer follow-up — are handled directly. The on-site arborist work is done by partner crews, as described above.
I'm not an ISA-certified arborist. I don't claim to be. The partner crews on our roster are the certified people doing the actual tree work. My job is to make the rest of the experience — getting a fair quote, having the bylaw handled, getting called back on time, dealing with insurance or hydro coordination — substantially better than the local market currently offers.
Why I built this
Local home services are a category where homeowners are routinely subjected to high-pressure on-site sales visits, vague verbal quotes, opaque permit handling, and slow callbacks — not because individual arborists are bad people, but because running a small contractor business doesn't leave time for those things to be done well. A platform that does those things well, on behalf of qualified partners, lets the partners focus on the work and lets the homeowner experience improve substantially.
That's the bet. We'll see if Aurora homeowners agree.
